Las Vegas' Unemployment Jumps As Damage From The Lombardo-Trump Agenda Continues To Take Its Toll

New data confirms that under Joe Lombardo, Las Vegas’ jobless rate continues to climb as Trump’s trade war continues to wreak havoc on Nevada’s economy. Unemployment in Vegas jumped to 5.8% in June, rising rapidly from 5.5% in May and 5.2% in April.

Nevada’s unemployment rate is higher today than when Lombardo took office in 2023 and according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), under Lombardo, Nevada’s unemployment rate has been higher than any state in the nation for the entire past year.

Reporting from the Las Vegas Review-Journal on the new unemployment data for Las Vegas detailed how Trump’s “ever-shifting trade wars are still hanging over the U.S. economy”, which is “losing steam” as the “costs of tariffs are starting to get passed on to consumers”. The tariffs are also causing a decline in international tourism and weighing on domestic leisure travel amid the resulting economic uncertainty, both of which Las Vegas’ economy depends on.

Despite the damage to Nevada, a cowardly and out-of-touch Joe Lombardo has come out in support of Trump and his reckless tariffs, saying that Nevadans needed to “feel a little pain” from the tariffs.
